Questions about Candor Bulk Editor
What does the app change in my store?
Only what you ask it to. It reads and writes your products, variants, inventory, metafields and image alt text when you run or schedule an edit, and at no other time.
How does undo work?
Before a run changes a field, the app keeps the value that field had. Undoing the run puts those original values back, field by field. They are kept for your plan's history window, from 7 days on the free plan to 90 days on the largest plans, and then deleted.
What can undo put back?
Every field the app edits, exactly as it was before the run. For stock and metafields, the app first checks the value is still the one the run wrote. The page below lists every field.
Why did undo leave some fields alone?
A field that changed after the run, by you, another app or a sale, is not overwritten. The undo preview lists each one with its value now, and you can choose to overwrite single ones or all of them.
Why were some items skipped?
A guard stopped them: a price at zero or below, a price under its cost, a compare at price not above the price, or more decimals than your currency has. The preview names the guard and counts each one, before anything is written.
What does Checked mean on a receipt?
After writing, the app reads every changed field back from Shopify. Checked means Shopify holds exactly the new value. Differs on Shopify means it does not, and the receipt shows what Shopify holds instead.
How long can a preview wait?
24 hours. After that, preview the edit again so it starts from your store's current values.
How does a sale end?
At its end time the app undoes the sale's start run, so every price goes back to the value it had before the sale, not to another sale's price. A price you changed during the sale is left as you set it.
Can it edit products with many variants?
Yes, up to Shopify's limit of 2,048 variants a product, and the receipt checks every one of them.
What kinds of edits are there?
Besides setting, raising and lowering values: several find and replace pairs in one edit, everything between two markers, find and replace in the HTML of a description by text, by link and image addresses or by the raw HTML (everything outside the change stays as it was), renaming or removing tags, tag edits by a match or a template, rounding that keeps the old cents, a weight in another unit, connecting a location, hiding a product from search engines, and shipping profiles. Each is an ordinary edit with a preview, a receipt and an undo. The page below says what undo does with each.
What can't the app do?
It does not delete products or variants and does not create variants. For images it edits the alt text, not the files. It does not edit orders, customers, the settings of collections themselves or metaobject entries, and it has no two-way Google Sheets sync (a feed can read a sheet) and no FTP or XML feeds. It does not disconnect a location from a product, change translated descriptions, set B2B quantity rules or price breaks, change an item's fulfillment service, or set category attributes that point to Shopify's own entries.
What happens to my data if I uninstall?
Everything the app holds for your store is still there 48 hours after you uninstall, so a reinstall in that time finds your run history. Then Shopify asks the app to erase it, and the app erases it.
