Candor Bulk Editor is a Shopify app for editing many products at once, with an undo for every run. I built it and I run it. This page says what it reads, what it keeps, why, where, for how long, and how to have all of it deleted.

What the app reads and writes

Your products and their variants: prices, compare at prices, costs, SKUs, barcodes, tags, vendors, types, statuses, SEO titles and descriptions, metafields and image alt text, which collections and sales channels each product is in (with their names), which shipping profile each variant belongs to (with the profile's name), and inventory at each of your locations, with the names of those locations. It reads them when you ask it to (to show them, to preview an edit or to run one) and writes them only when you run an edit or an edit you scheduled comes due.

When you undo a run that changed product URL handles, it also reads your store's URL redirects to find the redirect that run made from the old address to the new one, and deletes that one redirect. It reads and changes no other redirect, menu or page.

It also reads your store's time zone and currency when you install it, so scheduled edits start at your time and prices show in your currency, and it reads the plan you picked from Shopify once a day.

What it does not touch

It does not read your customers, your orders or anything about the people who buy from you, and it does not ask Shopify for permission to. It does not download or change your image files, only their alt text when you edit it.

What it keeps, and why

For each run: which products and fields it changed, the value each field had before the run, the value it wrote, and what Shopify reported back afterwards, with the product and variant titles and SKUs the receipt shows you. That record is what lets the receipt check every field, and what lets an undo put back the original value exactly. It also keeps your settings and your scheduled edits.

Files you upload for an import, and files the app builds for you to download, are kept only until they expire, and the app shows you when that is.

How long it's kept

Before a run changes a field, the app keeps the value that field had. Undoing the run puts those original values back, field by field. They are kept for your plan's history window, from 7 days on the free plan to 90 days on the largest plans, and then deleted.

So a run's original values are kept for your plan's history window (7 days on the free plan, up to 90 days on the largest), and after that the run can no longer be undone.

When it's deleted

When you uninstall the app, its work for your store stops at once. Everything it holds for your store stays for 48 hours and is then deleted, when Shopify tells the app to. If you reinstall the app within those 48 hours, nothing is deleted and your run history is still there to undo. The app's database is copied every night so it can be recovered after a fault, and each copy is deleted after 14 days. Shopify's API terms give an app 30 days after an uninstall to delete a store's data.

Where it's kept, and who else sees it

On a server I rent from Contabo, in Germany (European Union). No one I choose sees it. I don't sell or share your data, and the app uses no advertising or analytics services. The only other companies involved are Shopify, where your store and your plan live, and Contabo, which rents me the server.

The server's logs record your store's address, ids and counts, and no product titles, prices, tags or any other value the app reads or writes. These public pages set no cookies and load nothing from other sites.

Your requests

To get a copy of what the app holds for your store, or to have it deleted without uninstalling, write to me from the store owner's email address. I carry out the request and confirm when it's done. The app holds nothing about your customers, so there is nothing to hand over or erase for a customer's own request.

If something goes wrong

If your store's data is exposed, I tell Shopify and I tell you directly.
